Our roots begin with Bayard Lewis, who started practicing law in the community in 1956. Mr. Lewis became a county judge in 1979, at which time Richard Smith, his associate, continued the practice. Fred Strege, who had practiced law for three years with the firm of Johnson, Milloy, Johnson, Stokes and Robinson, joined Richard in 1981 and they founded the present Smith & Strege firm. Janel Fredericksen became an associate in the firm in 1995, and in 2003 she became a partner. Jason Butts joined the firm as an associate in 2003. Our office is located in Wahpeton, North Dakota. Wahpeton is located across the river from our sister city, Breckenridge, Minnesota. For over 40 years our firm has represented thousands of North Dakota and Minnesota residents. |
